This chapter introduces us to the existing families of the line descended from the Old Rector of Brailsford. In the four generations of descent now before us they have already ramified so considerably as to be to a great extent almost as unknown to each other as those of the other line of Joseph Boultbee of Coleorton. The account may not be as full as some may wish, but the history has become so recent that some delicacy attends the insertion of numerous details, and the object of this work is not biography, but to put on record genealogical notes which may enable the scattered members of the family to trace their connections.
    The table of the names of the children of Thomas and Jane Boultbee will be the natural preface to the remaining history.
