DR. ALFRED BOULTBEE AND HIS FIRSTBORN SON FELIX
Alfred was born March 16, 1869 at Madras, India Madras, India,
the first son of William and Marian Boultbee. William was a
Civil Engineer with the Madras Railway Company. Alfred's first few
years of education would have been in India. In 1876, his parents
returned to Canada on a twoyear furlough, and left the four older children,
including Alfred, with a friend in Hamilton, Mrs. Ambrose, Mrs. (Aunt Phoemy)
Ambrose. The furlough was over in 1878, but the four children stayed
on with Mrs. Ambrose until 1882 when his father's work with the railroad
was completed. The whole family was united at that time and lived
at 52 St. Alban Street in Toronto.
Alfred's education was continued in Toronto through to a medical
degree. He practised as a physician, first in 1893 from his parents'
home at 52 St. Alban Street, in 1896 at 16 Bloor Street East,
and in 1900 at 563 Church Street, according to the Toronto City Directories.
During 1901 and 1902, he had formed a partnership with a Dr. Douglas at
563 Church Street. In 1903, he moved to 27 Isabella Street,
Toronto. From 1903 to 1906, he is listed as the Manager of Canadian
Produce Company Limited Canadian Produce Company Limited as well as being
a physician. In 1907 he is President of the Company, and has dropped
the listing of physician. This continues to 1913. In 1914 and
1915 he is manager of the Canadian Kennel Club Canadian Kennel Club, and
in 1916, possibly due to poor health, he is secretary of the Club.
Alfred died March 17, 1916 at his home, 27 Isabella Street, Toronto,
and is buried in St. James' Cemetery, Toronto St. James' Cemetery,
Toronto. Edith survived him until 1921.
Boultbee:Donald Edward Donald Edward Boultbee (1928 - 1992)
He was born September 14, 1928 in Elmhurst, Illinois Elmhurst,
Illinois, and was the son of John Henry Boultbee:John Henry (Jack) Boultbee
and Beatrice Woodhouse. He attended Schurz High School in Chicago,
and went on to the University of Illinois University of Illinois,
from which he graduated as an engineer specializing in ceramics.
On June 14, 1952, he married Nancy Elizabeth Meredith:Nancy Elizabeth
Meredith of Toronto, the daughter of Gordon Meredith:Gordon Meredith
and Meredith:Abigail, see McAuley Abigail McAuley, Abigail McAuley.
Donald & Nancy had a daughter Boultbee:Nancy Jan Nancy Jan, and two
sons, Boultbee:Meredith Reid Meredith Reid, and Boultbee:Calvin Wayne Calvin
Wayne. The family lived in Frankfort, Indiana.
At Frankfort, Indiana Frankfort, Donald worked at Ingram Richardson,
a porcelain and enamelling plant, for more than 20 years, and
subsequently transferred to the Frankfort Wastewater Treatment Plant, where
he was Superintendent. He was involved in several projects at the
Plant, including the dechlorination of the waste water, the separation
of storm water from the regular sewage, and the application of the waste
sludge to the soil.
He was an avid bicyclist, and could be seen every day travelling
to work on his bicycle. In his youth he joined the Boy Scouts, and
from ages 37 to 44 served as a Scout Leader Scout Leader. He was
a member of the local School Board for three years beginning in 1972.
Donald served as an Elder in the First Presbyterian Church, Frankfort,
Indiana First Presbyterian Church in Frankfort.
Donald Edward Boultbee died of cancer on January 7, 1992, and
was buried in Green Lawn Memorial Park, Frankfort, Indiana Green Lawn
Memorial Park, Frankfort.
